Director, Research Partnerships
RHINO HEALTH
Rhino is seeking a Director / Head of Research Programs. This is a highly visible, externally facing role focused on positioning Rhino as the default platform for multi-institutional research and cross-organizational AI/ML development. You will combine deep scientific literacy with strategic business acumen to shape programs, influence major initiatives, and originate new revenue.
Unlike a typical BD role, this position sits at the intersection of research strategy, commercialization, and ecosystem leadership. You will represent Rhino at the table with PIs, program officers, and policy leaders, while working internally to translate their needs into platform adoption and roadmap influence.
Success will be measured not only by pipeline and influenced revenue, but also by program-level impact, where Rhino is written into flagship grants, RFAs, and reference architectures, and by your role in expanding our institutional and government network.
Responsibilities- Strategic Origination: Shape new revenue opportunities by embedding Rhino into federally funded programs, global research consortia, and high-visibility public–private initiatives.
- Program Leadership: Identify and prioritize initiatives where federated computing can serve as critical infrastructure for secure, privacy-preserving collaboration.
- External Influence: Represent Rhino at proposer days, consortia meetings, and policy forums; drive visibility in publications, strategic roadmaps, and consortium charters.
- Stakeholder Development: Build trusted relationships with principal investigators, institutional research leaders, program managers, and federal sponsors.
- Proposal Development: Act as both a scientific and commercial partner, contributing to positioning, technical narratives, and deployment models for proposals and grant applications.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, product, and marketing to align external opportunities with Rhino’s roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
- Ecosystem Growth: Track and report on influenced revenue, pipeline development, ecosystem expansion, and co-development milestones.
- 8+ years of experience in research development, strategic BD, or program leadership at the intersection of science, technology, and commercialization.
- Advanced degree strongly preferred (Ph.D., MD, MPH, MS) with demonstrated ability to translate complex science into actionable strategy and adoption.
- Proven record of shaping and winning multi-party initiatives—federal grants, academic alliances, or public–private partnerships.
- Strong network and experience engaging with academic medical centers, research hospitals, or federal agencies (e.g., NIH, NSF, ARPA-H, DOE).
- Demonstrated ability to influence strategy across scientific and commercial stakeholders, driving platform adoption in complex ecosystems.
- Commercial instincts with experience surfacing opportunities, generating pipeline, and contributing to revenue (not necessarily in a quota-carrying role).
- Exceptional communication skills, executive presence, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
