Join us at Zendesk, where we're on a mission to power exceptional service for every person on the planet. We're accelerating that ambition by building products rooted in AI, automation, and intelligent customer experiences, because behind every interaction lies an opportunity to make a human connection.
We’re seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to join the Workforce Management product team — Zendesk’s AI-powered solution for forecasting, scheduling, and agent performance tracking. In this role you’ll build intuitive, performant UIs that help customers forecast staffing needs, automate personalized schedules, and give agents clear, actionable insights into their work. Your work will directly improve agent productivity, reduce operational costs for customers, and scale Zendesk’s impact across large contact centers.
You will play a vital role on a cross-functional squad, partnering with product, backend, and data teams to deliver high-quality, user-focused experiences that support Zendesk’s company goals around AI-driven customer service and scalable growth.
In your daily job you will:
Build scalable, maintainable UIs using JavaScript (ES6+), React, Redux, and TypeScript across the Workforce Management product.
Own features end-to-end: design, implement, test, and ship while collaborating with product and backend engineers.
Improve application performance and UX through profiling, optimization, and thoughtful trade-offs.
Contribute to technical direction and squad-level architectural decisions with a clear link to business objectives.
Tackle technical debt and refactor for long-term maintainability and developer productivity.
Participate in and lead peer code reviews; write and maintain unit and integration tests (Jest).
Document designs, share knowledge, and mentor junior engineers to grow team capability.

3+ years professional frontend development experience building production web applications
Very good proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), React, Redux, and TypeScript.
Experience writing reliable tests (Jest or similar) and participating in code reviews.
Solid understanding of web application concepts (DOM, accessibility, performance, responsive design).
Demonstrated ability to translate product and business requirements into technical designs.
Clear communicator who can work cross-functionally and explain technical trade-offs to non‑engineers.
Growth mindset: curious, coachable, and committed to improving both product and craft.
Basic qualifications (required)

Experience optimizing web application performance and working with large data sets in the UI.
Prior experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering processes.
What you’ll get from us
Challenging problems and opportunities to drive complex software projects end-to-end.
A collaborative, supportive team of engineers invested in learning and growth.
Flexible work practices to fit your life and circumstances.
