Job Description
We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our teams that will contribute to innovative solutions in the Messaging Experience group. You’ll be involved in building integrations and connectors to the ES platform that is currently used by thousands of users around the world.
Sunshine Conversations powers conversational experiences between people and organizations through an omnichannel experience from a wide range of channels such as Slack, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram and more.

What you’ll be doing
Own features from design, implementation, review, testing, rollout, monitoring.
Produce a short design doc for medium+ changes (problem, constraints, chosen approach, rollback plan) and present it to the team before implementation.
Contribute to platform, architecture, and data model decisions working closely with Engineering, Product and Design.
Work on reliability and scalability improvements.
Write/maintain concise README(s), design docs, API docs, and runbooks for the services you own.
Present technical proposals and demo important features to cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Design, Support).
Improve engineering culture and processes by leading occasional tech talks and help the team adopt best practices (testing, observability, code reviews).
Advocate for and help implement improvements to CI/CD, monitoring dashboards, or deployment practices.
What you bring to the role
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years building backend services with Node.js, Express and TypeScript.
Autonomy and leadership to carry a project through its execution, while also knowing when to ask for help.
A collaborative attitude, contributing to an enjoyable work environment that promotes teamwork throughout the organization.
Comfortable working in agile teams and contributing to product/technical planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing and developing distributed systems (secure, scalable, reliable)
Hands-on experience with message systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS) and data stores (MongoDB, Redis, MySQL).
Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, and production observability (metrics/tracing/logging).
Experience in SaaS product development and working with globally distributed teams.
Experience with event driven architectures.
Tech Stack
Our application code is mostly written in TypeScript and JavaScript.
Our main backend runs on Node.js and Express. Most of our frontend runs on React.
Our data is stored on MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, S3 and queued or streamed through RabbitMQ, Kafka and SQS.
Our workloads run on Kubernetes clusters running on AWS.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
