As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in harnessing data to build scalable solutions that empower growers, improve soil health, and contribute to global carbon reduction efforts. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
– Data Science Operations : Perform data collection, preprocessing, and analysis of spectroscopy data, including building and maintaining data pipelines and developing machine learning models for soil carbon quantification.
– Statistical and Mathematical Leadership : Conduct statistical modeling, uncertainty quantification, and the interpretation of analytical results to ensure scientific rigor and actionable insights.
– Product Development Collaboration : Engage with cross-functional teams to scale predictive models and integrate spectroscopy data insights into large-scale soil carbon quantification products.
– Innovation and Continuous Improvement : Research and implement advanced machine learning techniques and methodologies to enhance soil carbon measurement accuracy and reduce uncertainty in predictions.
– Collaboration and Communication : Partner with agronomists, R&D, and Customer Success to align data science objectives with business goals, and effectively communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
– A university degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or higher may be beneficial.
– 2+ years of experience in a data science role or equivalent.
– Ability to communicate in French and English (spoken and written)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Technical skills
– Proficient in techniques such as domain adaptation, semi-supervised learning, soft labeling, time series analysis, clustering, decision tree learning, and artificial neural networks. Skilled in applying these methods effectively within real-world application contexts.
– Advanced knowledge of data cleaning, preprocessing, and handling both feature noise and label noise. Experienced in developing insightful data visualizations to communicate findings.
– Strong foundation in statistical techniques, including regression, Bayesian methods, hypothesis testing, and uncertainty quantification. Skilled in applying mathematical models to interpret data and validate predictions.
– Ability to rapidly develop and iterate on prototypes to test hypotheses and explore new approaches. Expertise in critically evaluating and comparing the performance of different models and techniques.
– Familiar with Agile methodologies and proficient in IT collaboration tools such as Git, GitLab, and related version control systems.
Cross functional skills
– Strong ability to communicate technical concepts and processes clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, particularly when preparing documentation or presenting analytical findings.
– Skilled at understanding the requirements of internal and external stakeholders, and delivering insights, models, and data-driven recommendations to support their decision-making processes.
– Familiarity with data protection regulations and best practices in data handling and security is a plus.
– Capable of adapting to changes within the team and evolving business priorities, adjusting data science methodologies and approaches to meet dynamic market and company demands.
